 Overview

 

For over 37 years Rob has practiced at the Bar in all jurisdictions other than criminal and taxation law. He is an experienced appellate and trial advocate. He has conducted numerous trials in commercial matters, building and construction law, succession law, insurance law, medical negligence and personal injury litigation in the District and Supreme Courts of Queensland and the Federal Court. He has conducted appeals in the High Court, Full Federal Court and Courts of Appeal of New South Wales and Queensland. He also practices in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

He is also involved in Alternative Dispute Resolution as a Mediator. He is a founding Member of the Janus Club established under the auspices of the Bar Association of Queensland representing members of the Bar who have an interest in mediation. He has presented papers to that organization and assisted in the training of future members of the Bar in mediation at the Bar Practice Course. He has also acted as a Specialist Adjudicator under the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997.

He is a Sessional Member of Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and has presided over many complex and lengthy building disputes and other Tribunal matters.

  • 1978 Article Clerk to Mr A. N. L. Atkinson Morris Fletcher and Cross solicitors (Minter Ellison);
  • 1979 Private practice as a barrister.

Rob has delivered numerous papers over the years principally in the field of personal injury and medical negligence litigation. More recently, he has published/delivered the following papers.

  • February 2001 “Preparing and Conducting Alternative Dispute Resolution – a Guide for Personal Injury Lawyers” paper presented at a Plaintiff Lawyers Association Conference.
